The Hewn is a hand-carved Danish Freehand smoking pipe which is carved from plateuax briar in a rough-cut way in respect of the pipe smoking woodsman. He reached into his pocket and found his pouch of tobacco but had left his pipe at home. So, he hewed a pipe -- wittily fashioning it out of the available hardwood with his hunting knife so he could enjoy a morning smoke before sighting his catch -- something only a pipe smoker and woodsman would understand. Some may ask, where then did the stem come from? Now, don't ruin a good story.
